Examples of scientific paradigm shift.
* The shift from Geocentric model to Heliocentric model in astronomy.
* The shift from Maxwellian Electromagnetism to Einsteinian Relativity in physics.
* The shift from Classical mechanics to Quantum mechanics in physics.
* The acceptance of Plate tectonics as the explanation for large-scale geologic changes

Science is always evolving it’s not fixed. You make science sound like a belief system the is infalliable. At one time scientist thought the earth was the center of the universe. There are scientific paradigm shifts and they aren’t even linear. They (shifts) break down to scientist saying “this is Law!” and then a shift comes and then it’s, “well now this is law” (until we get new research that says otherwise)

WOW! Thank you for that info. Seeing the red is what freaked me out a bit.
Where is your internship at? I can only see that you are in the US.

oh by the way. It’s not just irritating the skin although it looks that way. It’s breaking up adhesions in the musle and or fascia of the muscle. These are the result of scar tissue from microtraumas and can leave you with knots and ropes in the muscle…ie pain. I know it looks crazy but it works. Just because it does have a commercial for it or come from a pharmacist doesn’t mean it doesn’t work.

Read your response to gua sha and just wanted to share information. You’re suppose to stop once you see petechiae (red spots). It does actually work and there is peer-reviewed research on pub med to support its use. I’m an intern. Here are some studies.
1.) Forsch Komplementmed. 2008 Apr;15(2):97-103. Epub 2008 Apr 7.
2.) Hu Li Za Zhi. 2008 Feb;55(1):105-10. Chinese
3.) Explore (NY). 2007 Sep-Oct;3(5):456-66. Review.
4.) Forsch Komplementmed. 2007 Oct;14(5):297-300. Epub 2007 Oct 25. German

Well, I have to admit that the guy with horn looks a bit scary:-). But you don’t have to pay for it, it’s quite easy, you just need a chinese porcelan spoon for 50 pence and someone willing to try it on you:-). I taught my husband how to do it, the spoon is gentler than horn and works very well. Any neck problem or headache goes away quickly. Anyway, I don’t think that this is something you are keen to try. Just wanted to say that the whiplash needs much less time to go away with guasha

Whiplash is the muscles and I have had it a few times due to car accidents. That took time to make go away. I know what Guasha is also. I personally do not believe in it. I am a realist when it comes to things like that. It is just not something that I would be doing. I would never spend money to have some guy assault me with a horn… no thank you. For those that is “works” for, right on… just nothing that I would ever think of.

Agree-I’m not 100% sure of what you are talking about.Justed wanted to say that guasha works and it’s not based only on placebo, although I agree that placebo is part of its effectivity. The redness you can see is blood, guasha very strongly moves stagnating blood and improves metabolic processes. I have some experience with it. And I’m sure that for example homeopatics(another possibly ‘placebo’)wouldn’t have sorted out my neck after whiplash injury.

there were 2, one in each shoulder.

Whoa buddy. You lost the point there. This procedure is about as effective as diet pills is what I was saying… THEY DO NOT WORK!!!
It is all in your head. It is all about they way you look at it. Do not thread off of me if you are not 100% sure of what I am talking about.

To lamandalynne: it’s not the same like the diet pills. I agree they are damn, they just make you piss more, that’s why people loose weight (temporarily, of course). Guasha helps to move the blood in areas where it stagnates (neck is one of the areas where almost everybody has stagnation due to our life style), is great for headaches and pain due to stagnation, also some other things(but can’t treat everything, nobody said it can).

it’s probably buffalo horn, it’s been used in China traditionaly. but anything can be used, you can get plastic guasha tool or use chinese spoon, they fit quite well into hand and are easy to use. Guasha is a great therapy everyone can do it, you don’t need much training
20 mynamesnotdan
what is the object that you’re using to scrape with?
21 lamandalynne
It is all about fake it till you make it. If you think that something is going to work, then it will.
Just like those damn diet pills. They are loaded with junk… and people are dropping weight. It is all about the mindset!
